Test Stack:
How It Works
Step 1: Initial Audit
To begin with (within 1 week of signup) we will need to manually audit your website. Our experts will:
- Define critical testing steps e.g. if you are an ecommerce store this will involve visiting product pages, opening menus, performing search, selecting variant, adding to bag, entering checkout etc
- We also define non-critical testing steps. These are important tests but they are not seen as mission critical. On an eCommerce store this could be actions like adding a product to a wishlist or applying a filter. On a non-ecommerce site a non-critical test could be something like posting a comment or closing a popup.
- Critical and non-critical testing steps are clearly defined in a document and shared with you. You will be given the chance to make suggested changes based on your key business objectives.
- We will also wish to audit your GA4 data so we can get an understanding of the mix of devices in use e.g. for a B2C brand the traffic may be 80-90% on mobile with very little legacy browser usage whereas for a B2B site it could easily be 80% on desktop with many legacy browsers in use (as businesses can be slow to upgrade).
Step 2: Testing Begins
Our experts will setup a workflow which defines the test frequency. Critical and non-critical will receive different priority. And more popular browser / device combos in your market will receive more attention.
Testing is an ongoing, never-ending process. We literally start by running some automated checks (to look for major errors) and then begin the process of manual testing using real physical devices.
You can’t automate a lot of this work. But we automate the parts we can.
Errors are logged in a clear and simple format your developer will be able to understand and replicate. For some errors a video recording will be made and for others a screenshot or description may suffice.
Step 3: Critical Alerts
If your website has a critical bug we will inform you immediately so that work can begin to rectify the issue. Critical bugs are ones that may impact your bottom line and could include things like:
- Checkout button not scrollable into view
- Variant select works but doesn’t add correct size to bag
- Subscribe button doesn’t work
- Lead form doesn’t load
Many of these errors are only replicated on certain device / browser combos and may be easily missed by you and your team.
Our rigorous testing process ensures that you’re not losing revenue to bugs.
Step 4: Monthly Reports
Each month you will receive a report highlighting any critical and non-critical bugs which you can pass to your developers to action.
If you are in need of development support we may also be able to estimate on fixing the bugs depending on the tech stack you use.
The report will also cover any usability or functionality notes/suggestions from our testers (e.g. things that are not bugs but perhaps impact usability or could be improved if done differently). It will also show any pagespeed issues as we will be testing this on an ongoing basis.

Frequently asked questions
What platforms does Test Stack work with?
Literally anything on the web. As long as the website is accessible via the web it can benefit from the product.
If the website can’t be accessed in certain locations or is gated with a password we may struggle to test it thoroughly. An initial audit can tell us if this is the case.
Does it automatically fix bugs?
No. Test Stack is a way to ensure that bugs are discovered. It doesn’t resolve them. A developer would usually need to be involved in resolving bugs & we may be able to estimate for fixing them if the website is using a tech stack familiar to us (e.g. Shopify, Shopify Plus, WordPress, BigCommerce, WooCommerce and many others)
Can I just run it as a one off?
You can by cancelling your plan but it’s not advised. Test Stack works best as an ongoing process. Think of it as quality & testing tool for your developers as well as any apps you use. You may get some insights from a one-off check but it won’t be anywhere near as useful as a monthly check. Most websites these days have multiple apps/plugins running as well as continual content updates which can all lead to bugs.
Remember it only takes one line of bad code to break a whole website.
To get the best out of Test Stack you need to let our testing team get beyond the initial tests which are completed in month 1. There are thousands of physical device and browser combos to test and we’re just going to keep going and going and going and going. If there are problems at any time we’re going to find them before they cost you.
How many domains does each plan cover?
Each plan covers one domain. If you wish to have a plan to cover multiple domains please contact us so we can complete an initial audit.
Is there a free trial?
No. But you can select the monthly plan and cancel any time.
It’s important to understand that our products are not just software. They are software + expert time.
